Along with the launch of the Exynos 990, Samsung also presented the 5G Exynos Modem 5123. “Samsung Exynos 990 and Exynos Modem 5123 can adapt to high-volume 5G and artificial intelligence applications,” said Inyup Kang, President of Samsung Electronics’ LSI Business System.
Exynos 990 and Exynos Modem 5123
Exynos 990 and Exynos Modem 5123 uses 7-nanometer technology from Extreme Ultra-violet (EUV) for performance and acceleration. Exynos 990 has a premium Mali-G77 GPU that uses Valhall architecture to boost graphics performance and power efficiency by up to 20 percent. An additional 20 percent of performance is also present from the CPU which consists of two cores, namely two high-performance Cortex-A76 and four Cortex-A55 for power efficiency. Exynos 990 has a dual-core Neural Processing Unit (NPU) and an improved Digital Signal Processor (DSP) so that it can process more than 10 billion operations (TOPs) per second. NPU will help with artificial intelligence or AI features such as facial recognition . Exynos 990 and Exynos Modem 5123 will begin production on a large scale by the end of this year. Phone Arena believes that the Exynos 990 chipset will be used in the next Samsung flagship, Galaxy S11, which will launch next year. More on Samsung:
