SEGA Forever is the New Roof Under which Tons of Classic SEGA games are being published for Android and iOS. The games will be completely free and supported by advertisements. Anyone who wishes to pay for the privilege can disable the ads forever for a one-time payment of $1.99 (per title). Sega kicked things off with five Genesis titles: Sonic the Hedgehog, Zone Comix, Modified Beast, Child Chameleon, and Phantasy Star II. New titles will be launched every two weeks with Master System, Game Gear, Saturn and Dreamcast titles coming soon. All Sega Forever titles will be available for offline play, with online rankings available for those who like to compare their talents with others. Older Sega titles will be introduced to smartphones through emulation, while newer titles will require full ports for iOS and Android.
Bringing Old Games to a New Audience
The only thing Sega has in mind is the pedigree, so it’s only fair to focus on making its old games available to a new audience using a modern platform. Will it succeed?
